Don’t Estimate or Blame Others

Story: A group of people were travelling to a hill station by a van during night time. The hill looked dangerous with so many big trees and lot of hairpin bends. The road was narrow and slippery too. It was really hard for the driver to pilot the van in the dense forest. All of a sudden, heavy rain started to pour with thunders and lightening, causing panic among the travelers.

The entire passengers on the bus were alarmed about the current situation. They didn't know how to react to the situation. They all trusted the van driver, as he was the only one who can manoeuvre the situation. When the van had crossed two hairpin bends, the thunder and lightning grew larger and larger and it was literally visible from the van. The thunders and lightening repeated yet again in a span of 20 minutes or so.

All the Passengers on the van were disgusted and they really didn't know to combat the situation. The driver stopped the van near by a big tree. There was a 100 feet distance between the tree and the van. The driver requested all the passengers to get down from the van. The driver had a superstitious belief that all these incidents were happening because of the bad time of one among them. He proposed an idea to overcome the situation. He came forward and gave a speech. He expressed that all of them were in the difficult part of their life, and if the journey continues there are chances of thunder falling on the van, causing havoc to all the travelers. He had a thought that the bad time of one may cause evil to all the other travelers. He didn’t want to risk the life of all for the sake of one person.

He said that the tree is a very good conductor of thunder and lightning, and most of the time the thunder strikes the tree. He proposed that everyone should go near the tree one by one and spend few minutes over there, and if nothing happens the person can come back to the van. He had a strong notion that if the person had a bad time he would be killed, and others will survive. He pleaded to accept his decision unanimously. After some discussion, all the travelers agreed to this proposal.

The driver was the first person to take this challenge. He walked towards the tree and spend few minutes over there and came back to the van. Nothing happened to him. All the passengers started to make their move towards the tree one by one. This was going on and really nothing happened to anyone in the crew. Finally there was only one person left in the group to make his move towards the tree. Everyone had a thought that this last person might be the one who is having a bad time, and he is the one going to die. The last person walked slowly towards the tree. Once he reached the tree, heavy thunder and lightning struck yet again.

Within fraction of seconds everything happened just like that. The lighting and thunder struck the van and not the tree. Except the last person who walked towards the tree, all the remaining travelers in the van died in the huge natural disaster.

The main core of the story is that, the last person who walked towards the tree was the reason why everyone was alive for the past thirty minutes. Once he moved away from them, they were struck in thunder and lightning. It’s easy for nature, to do its job perfectly. Don’t ever judge others, as everyone is unique. Somebody will be good in speaking, some in writing, and the other might be an expert in drawing and so on. Everybody is born on this earth for a certain reason which we might not know. Nature inculcates that each one will have their day of success. For some it comes earlier, and for others they might have to wait a little longer for their turn.

Another classic example is that of our fingers. Everyone is aware of adage “All fingers are not the same”. Not all our five fingers are of the same size. Each finger is unique and beyond comparison. We can’t hold things properly leaving out any of the fingers, we may hold it for a few seconds but the object will certainly fumble. These five fingers are the perfect example for team building. Any team needs a good leader to propose a vision and take the team towards the goal. The whole team is equally important right from the project manager to the trainee. Each of them is unique and everyone’s effort is required throughout to reach the goal at the proper time.

So whenever you encounter a problem, try to face it and accept the problem as it is. Don’t ever blame others. Try to face the problem with full of confidence and resolve it as a team.

Moral of the story: Every single person you meet in your life will teach you something on the go. They might even turn out to be your role model. So never underestimate anyone based on your conception. Don’t expect anything from others. Accept Life as it is. Nature will provide everything to you, accept and enjoy Life.
